MINI CASE STUDIES

Partnering with a behavioral health consulting firm in the Mid-Atlantic and its content experts, David Steven Rappoport, as lead grant writer, participated in a collaborative proposal development process.  The result was a 100% funding success rate (about $8M total) with federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) grants, the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation.

Prepared summary training modules for a community college system in the Midwest. Topics included public grants, private grants, budgeting, and evaluation. The modules are brief and targeted at staff and faculty grant seekers with limited or no experience.

At the request of a university grants officer in the Midwest, David Steven Rappoport critiqued a proposal before submission to the federal Department of Education.

Working closely with a colleague, we led the ARPA reporting to the federal Department of the Treasury for a Mid-Atlantic county detailing their plans for the expenditure of almost $200M in COVID-19 relief funding.

Conducted research to find available funding opportunities for a community dental clinic in the rural Southeast.

While collaborating with a fundraiser and a public relations professional, Mr. Rappoport secured funds for a capital campaign for a new building at a charter public high school in New England.

Working with a New England university development office, Mr. Rappoport developed a case statement and proposals for a capital campaign dedicated to a teacher training institute.

Partnering with two colleagues with content expertise, the team created a business plan associated with a tribal enterprise specialty food manufacturer.  After six years in operation, the business has a staff of 12 and annual sales in excess of $1M.
